I create original and emotive photography for artistically minded couples.
My style is a fuse of editorial and photo journalistic. Real moments, captured discreetly by me, fuelled by you.
The key to creating these images is simplicity and capturing real moments - no silly poses or directions.
I started my career over a decade ago and have been lucky enough to shoot over 200 weddings. I have won many awards and have become a reputable figure in the industry mentoring and teaching others who have been influenced by my style and approach.
My background is in film with a degree (Bachelor of Arts) in film production. This above all taught me the importance of storytelling.
The majority of my couples prefer to have someone that can blend in with their guests, to be discreet and capture the story of the day beautifully and artistically as it unfolds. Relying on natural light and composition rather than intrusive equipment.
I shoot 90% of the time with a single camera and one lens which allows more freedom to create artistic and unique documentary wedding photographs.

Every wedding is different, it's about you, your family, your friends and your story. I'm here to capture that for you. I want to capture the real emotions, nerves, love and excitement that's present on your wedding day. My primary focus is to build a relationship with anyone who's in front of my camera, and know them as more than a client or subject. I'm a strong believer that it's important to make a connection with whoever I'm photographing so that I can truly tell their story in a genuine way.

My style of wedding photography is a combination of relaxed a natural photojournalism, and a fashion based editorial style. Graduating with a degree in photography and film I studied photographers such as Martin Parr who takes an intimate and true documentation of what he see's. As a wedding photographer I spent many years trying to find my style and imitate others that influenced me, until realising that I just needed to shoot with my own approach. I've developed a style that subtle, beautiful and full of emotion.
Combining a totally natural journalistic and modern approach with a subtle fashion style, I prefer to offer minimal guidance and suggestions rather than full on direction.
With that in mind I am very discreet. Letting the wedding day unfold naturally. My approach works as I'm usually seen as simply another guest, which allows me to document the day from the "inside" rather than as on onlooker.
You will receive a true and artistic documentation of the day that will be as relevant and beautiful in 25 years time as it is today.

HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU WORKED AS A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER IN YORK?
I've been a professional wedding photographer in York for almost a decade now and have worked on over 200 weddings.
HOW MANY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS WILL WE RECEIVE?
Typically I’ll present you with between 500 – 700 edited photographs. These will be a mixture of colour and black and white.
DO YOU NEED TO VISIT THE VENUE BEFOREHAND?
No, my work is always people and story focused. The venue, as beautiful as I know it will be simply provides me with a back drop for my wedding photography.
I DON’T LIKE BEING PHOTOGRAPHED. HOW DOES THIS WORK?
I would say 95% of my couples feel exactly the same. I’ve built my entire ethos and approach to working as a York wedding photographer around this question. Whatever ideas you may have of what a wedding photographer looks like, that’s probably not how I’ll look. I don’t use big cameras or lights or anything else that will slow me down or cause a distraction. I’ll probably be seen as just another guest. I take my lead completely from my couples. If you want zero direction and want me to work 100% photojournalistically, then that’s fine with me. Likewise, if you want a little help with direction then I’m happy to help.
DO YOU OFFER ALBUMS?
Absolutely. I have a wide selection of wedding books and parent books available. Drop me an email and we can talk some more.
WHAT TIME DO YOU STAY UNTIL?
I want to capture a true story of your entire day from start to finish. This includes those crazy dance floor shots. I never give a set finish time but I’ll always be there to capture your party.
ARE YOU INSURED?
Absolutely, I can provide copies for the venue if requested.
WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE OUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS?
I'll always try to deliver your full set of images within 8-12 weeks. However depending on the time of year this can vary. If I have a clear schedule then it’s quite often that you’ll receive your wedding photographs sooner.
