Sacha + Matt, Marquee Wedding, York

“Let’s get married in the rain”

welcome sign for wedding

I’m not quite sure where to start or how to explain how incredible Sacha and Matt’s day truly was. I’m hoping the the quote “a picture tells a thousand words” is true to this blog. I’m going to try my best to share with you a tiny glimpse into their beautiful day.

A family farm, beautiful surroundings, amazing people, lots of alcohol, typical British weather and the most amazing cake I have ever seen are a few words I would use to sum up Sacha and Matt’s wedding.

I received a message from Matt days before they were getting married with a screen shot of the weather. Yellow weather warnings with heavy rain and 80mph winds aren’t exactly what you want to see. We were all keeping our fingers crossed for a break in the clouds so they could say their “I do’s” outside.

Everyone was ready and nerves were kicking in – It was time for the ceremony. Someone was obviously looking down on these two as the bad weather was holding off.

The wedding guests were seated and excited to see Sacha make her grand entrance. It was all getting a bit much for Matt and his best man Tom as they were holding back the tears.

It was the perfect moment as Matt watched Coco and the bridesmaids walk up the aisle and stand by his side to watch his soon to be wife make her entrance.

The sun was shining and the vows were in mid flow and all of a sudden out of nowhere the heavens opened and it rained – A LOT!!! At this point you can either embrace it or leg it and I’m so pleased that Sacha and Matt embraced the weather as it made for some great pics and an awesome story to tell.

With the torrential downpour and winds picking up the vows were finished and the rings were on – time for everyone to make a fast dash inside for drinks and canapés.

After a catchup with all their family and friends there was a break in the rain so I seized the moment and took the newlyweds out for a few portrait pics and to give them a bit of alone time away from the crowds. The wind was still strong but I was loving the way Sacha’s dress was flowing, and hair blowing, it made for some really natural, capture the moment photos which I adore.

Time for the reception, speeches and of course what everyone was waiting for…..The cake cut!!! Matt is a bit of a social media legend when it comes to baking so all of the guests were eagerly waiting for the grand reveal and the wait was well worth it, the cake was hands down one of the most outstanding wedding cakes I have seen – the scale of it was insane!!!

Time for the first dance and the guests gathered around the dance floor as Sacha and Matt walked hand in hand on to the stage. A beautiful moment watching these two in each others arms.

What a day!!!

Sacha & Matt it was an absolute pleasure 🙂

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making their day so epic.
