I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Katy and Chris’s elopement wedding day in the Peak District. When someone tells me that they are saying their I do’s in a quaint little registry office in Bakewell where the Bakewell pudding originates from then I’m sold!!!
I made my way to the Peak District the day before and had a scout around the area. Katy and Chris are big climbers so mentioned that they would love to go up to Curbar Edge to capture some pics around the rocks. Chris actually proposed to Katy just below Curbar whilst they were bouldering so it would have been rude not to get them up there on the big day.
The morning started bright and early as I got to Katy’s cottage for 6am to be greeted by her mum, sister, niece and some close friends. Katy’s niece Eleanor demanded we have pancakes which was an awesome call, I may have had one for myself, or maybe two…ok I had three, followed by a strong coffee so I was set for the day 🙂
Katy and Chris were due to get married at 10.30am just down the road but they wanted to break the old tradition of seeing each other for the first time at the end of the aisle, so we decided to do a first look. Chris came to the cottage for about 9.30am to be surprised by his beautiful wife to be. I have always wanted to do a first look and Chris’s reaction was priceless!!!
Once the tears were wiped away and they had a big hug it was time to walk to the registry office which was great fun, they received lots of compliments whilst they walked through the highstreet.
The ceremony was lovely, Katy and Chris invited 16 of their closest family and friends to enjoy the day with them. There were a couple of happy tears and a big cheer when they finally tied the knot.
We then made our way to a gorgeous little pub called the Chequers Inn for some really fancy pub grub, here Katy and Chris wanted to give a few gifts out to their nearest and dearest. Katy also had a little surprise for her hubby, Chris thought they were going on honeymoon to Ireland until Katy revealed a travel guide around New York…what a present!!!
After the meal we took a trip up to the top of Curbar Edge, I was so excited about this part of the day. I could tell that Katy and Chris had a good head for heights as they were happily jumping around from rock to rock, I myself stayed a safe distance from the edge and watched with white knuckles whilst these two got into position for the pics.
After a few hours of walking around the area we made our way to the village hall where more of Katy and Chris’s friends were waiting to celebrate with them.
Pizza, ice-cream, a good band, plenty of alcohol and an awesome crowd is the perfect recipe for an epic party.
It was such a pleasure spending the day with these two, their first dance was the perfect finish to an unbelievable day.
Thank you so much Katy and Chris for inviting me to capture your story x
