It was my first time being the Yorkshire Barn Wedding photographer and I was super excited to capture Lauren and Dan’s winter wedding at this stunner of a venue.
The morning of the wedding there was a yellow weather warning for ice rain and possibility of snow ……..it was bloody freezing!!!
On arriving at the venue I walked into the barn to be welcomed by a roaring open fire which was a sight for sore eyes.
I went up to say hi to Lauren and the girls before taking her dress and jewellery downstairs to get some pics by the giant Christmas tree in the ceremony room. There was such a festive feeling – I’m guessing it’s almost the law to have a Christmas tree at your wedding if you decide to get married 9 days before Christmas.
After a few detail pics I headed over to see Dan and the boys getting ready, It was a very cool and calm atmosphere – people drinking in the hot tubs and cracking open a few cans before getting in their suits.
The guests started slowly trickling in and it was soon time for Lauren to walk down the aisle to her soon to be hubby. I was so excited to get a shot of her walking down the aisle with the fairy lights and Christmas tree in the background..Dan’s face as he waited for her entrance was priceless.
After a short and sweet ceremony we headed around the venue for a few portrait pics before it was time for speeches and grub.
The weather had closed in on us and the heavens had opened, it was literally freezing rain. The ground turned in to an ice rink and everyone hibernated inside under candle light, it was very romantic.
The speeches are one of my favourite parts of the day and Dan got a pretty harsh grilling from his 3 best men.
Once bellies were full it was time for the first dance followed by ceilidh …the perfect way to finish a perfect day.
